Watching Other People Run
I spent Sunday morning at the Coffs Harbour Running Festival, cheering on Nic, Karen, Bec and Dena. That afternoon I walked the final 21.5 kilometres into Coffs Harbour before returning to Bec's place for a proper bed and dinner out.
Sunday morning started with something I hadn’t done for a while: I watched other people run.
Bec had invited us to Coffs Harbour for a mini break around the Coffs Harbour Running Festival. We’d spent Saturday evening at her property with good food and good company, and now there were races to watch.
Nic and Karen, better known online as Running GIRL and The Chocoholic Runner, were in the 10k. Bec was doing the 5k, while Dena was taking on her first ever half marathon.

The 10k started at 7 am, and for once I was standing at the side rather than adding kilometres of my own. Later that morning we watched Dena finish her half marathon. A cheeky kookaburra also joined the party, although it seemed more interested in stealing food than running.
Once the festival excitement was over, I still had some walking to do. We drove back to the previous day’s finish point near Raleigh and I started at 12:09 pm.
The first session covered 11.2 km through Repton and Bonville, with a stone-lined railway underpass, bushland and more of the waterways that ran through this part of New South Wales. After a short break I continued through Boambee and into Coffs Harbour.
Near town I found a bobcat loader mounted high on a pole.

I finished just after 5 pm. Two sessions, 21.5 km, and the route had reached Coffs Harbour.
Then it was back to Bec’s property for another night. This time she gave us a guest room with a proper bed, and we went out for a lovely dinner in Sawtell.
