Post-eventOne last lunch with the three HAAmigos
Goodbye, Ben
After lunch at the Pig & Whistle, Ben collected his backpack and the three HAAmigos said goodbye.

My legs were feeling the Twilight Bay Run half marathon. It was a good hurt, but I was taking it easy. By late afternoon my phone showed 1,965 steps. My daily average for the past month was 50,576, so I joked that I was feeling very lazy lol.
I was looking forward to a visit to Body Leadership Australia on Wednesday. I’d followed them for ages, met Paul at the Gold Coast Marathon the year before and Ange at Saturday’s parkrun. Paul had offered to see me free of charge, and had already sent a small foam roller, trigger point release ball and a few other “torture devices” via my friend Karen, the CHOCOHOLIC Runner.
There was still fundraising to do as well. A brand-new HAA shirt had travelled in my kit bag, unworn. The three of us signed it and I put it up for auction, with a $49 reserve, the price of an unsigned shirt. All profits would go to the Heart Foundation.
Then we popped into Brisbane for lunch at the Pig & Whistle. Afterwards we walked back to the car, Ben got his backpack out, and we said goodbye. Handshakes, hugs, and suddenly the three HAAmigos were down to two. Ben was heading off to pursue his scuba-diving qualifications.
I thanked him for everything he’d done. I told him that if he took just one thing away from this, let it be that if you set your sights on a dream, believe in that dream and it’s what you really want, then anything is possible.
Good luck for the future, Ben. I know you’re going to do some awesome things!
