Torrens Parkrun And A Unicorn
I used Adelaide - parkrun for rest, people, logistics, and the recovery work that kept the crossing possible.
Adelaide - parkrun gave me a day to stop moving without letting the crossing fall apart.
Rest did not mean the day was empty. It meant food, washing, messages, bodies, logistics, people, and the quiet work of being ready to go again.
The two pictures attached provide visual confirmation of something I had suspected - 9 weeks on the road is having a positive impact on my body fat %age Before we set off, I spent a month “tapering”, letting the body recover from several months of high km and big challenges.
I was training very little, and eating all my favourite takeaways because I was going to be on “survival rations” for 4 months…
I had been holding 115kg and I am pretty sure I gained at least 5kg, and was definitely over 120kg when I left.
The point of the day was not to add kilometres. It was to make the next kilometres possible.
Tomorrow could ask more of me because this day had given something back.
